Sustainable Development Index at the municipal level

Tools

The Municipal Sustainability Index (ISM, Portuguese acronym) is a model for monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the local level. The ISM is a tool that measures the fulfilment of the Agenda 2030 at the municipal level. The ISM is based on the 17 SDGs, the 169 targets and the 244 indicators proposed by the UN. The 21 founding municipalities of the CESOP-Local network have already received the corresponding ISM 2018 Report, which includes results by indicator, target, SDG, and global value. The report allows comparing results of the municipality with the global results of its regions (NUTIII and NUTII) of belonging and with the national results. All Portuguese municipalities can join the CESOP-Local network, and therefore access the ISM 2018 report. Together with the CESOP-Local research team, the network improves, develops and shares diagnostic and intervention tools in Sustainable Development. We are willing to collaborate on similar projects in other countries.
