Spanish local and regional governments are driving the localization process

The Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) has developed together with UCLG a dedicated webpage about the localization of the SDGs and the action of Spanish local and regional governments in this regard.

http://localizandoods.es/en/bienvenida/

It gathers  programmes of events taking place in Spain to address how local governments are facing the challenges of the localization of the SDGs. In particular, it places the localization of the SDGs as a multi-level commitment from each sphere of governments. A number of local and regional governments have been proactive drivers of the localization process such as Catalonia, the Valencian Community and the Basque Country .

The FEMP is the national association that represents the interests of more than 8.000 local government in Spain. Internationally, FEMP is active in Europe, Latin America and the Mediterranean area, cooperating in strengthening local institutions, providing the experience accumulated from the Spanish local governments on decentralization, governance and local autonomy.
