Shizuoka City held an online international exchange event for high school students on Friday, 2 August 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A total of fifty high school students from Shizuoka City (Japan), Taipei (Taiwan), Hue (Vietnam) and Hobart (Australia) gathered for this online event. The theme of their discussions was "SDGs Initiatives High School Students Have Found in Their Communities." Each group of students presented the efforts being made in their respective cities and schools to their international peers, all in English.

Objectives

• To foster a culture of action towards the SDGs, with Shizuoka City leading the way in sharing information and initiatives with other cities as a Local2030 Hub.

• To strengthen relationships with international cities and raise awareness among local youth about global issues, using English not as a goal but as a tool.
