The Secretariat of Government (SEGOV) of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil announced on Wednesday, April 5, the results of the selection process of the representatives that will compose the National Commission on the Sustainable Development Objectives (SDGs). The National Confederation of Municipalities (CNM) was one of the selected to compose the collegiate.
Composed of eight governmental and eight civil society actors, the commission has the mission of internalizing, disseminating and ensuring transparency to the implementation process of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. Among its attributions is to propose strategies, suggest new instruments, public policies and monitor its development.
Representatives of the municipal sphere and civil society were selected by means of a call for proposals. This group is divided into three groups: representing or having as associates or affiliates entities that carry out activities in the fields of teaching and research; which represent or have as affiliated or affiliated companies, businesses and/or foundations; and that represent or have as associates or affiliates entities of the state and/or district government that develop nonprofit actions and projects.
As representative of the municipal sphere, the CNM has been developing actions in this area through the project on localizing the SDGs in Brazilian municipalities, a partnership with the ART Initiative of the United Nations Development Programme. The project aims to strengthen the capacities of local governance managers to attain the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals in all cities and territories.
The guides produced and disseminated in the framework of this project are available on this platform in the Disocver tools page.
