UK Stakeholders for Sustainable Development (UKSSD) is an open platform that supports public, private and voluntary organisations working towards sustainable development in the UK.

UKSSD’s mission

UKSSD’s mission is to inspire and support all stakeholders to transform the UK into a sustainable society. We will achieve this by:

  • Generating new partnerships and innovative solutions for sustainable development by convening and co-ordinating stakeholders from all sectors; and
  • Providing thought leadership on the benefits for the UK resulting from action for sustainable development and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

How UKSSD is distinct from other networks

  • UKSSD is truly multi-stakeholder
    It encompasses academics, businesses, NGOs, and government at all levels. This fosters innovative solutions development challenges, drawing on diverse expertise.
  • UKSSD provides opportunities to engage with government
    The network is able to draw on well established relationships with UK Government and the Devolved Administrations to facilitate open dialogue for UKSSD members.
  • UKSSD membership is free and requires no commitments
    This means that any investment in the network – whether of finance or capacity – is entirely discretionary, allowing for varying organisational capacities and interests.

What UKSSD does

  1. Provides a platform for organisations from all sectors to discuss and work collaboratively on specific sustainable development challenges.
  2. Acts as a staging-post for sustainable development initiatives, with members able to plug into a broad network of organisations for collaboration, discussion and advice.
  3. Maintains open dialogue with Government, enabling members to relay their views and priorities directly to government.

How UKSSD achieves its objectives

UKSSD runs a programme of events and initiatives to support its partners’ work on sustainable development. The planned programme includes:

  • Regular Webinar discussions led by leading figures in sustainable development.
  • Facilitated roundtable discussions that convene organisations from all sectors to discuss specific areas of sustainable development;
  • Formation of Working Groups able to co-create solutions to sustainable development issues identified as UK priorities by UKSSD partners;
  • A national conference, free to UKSSD partners, which will discuss UK priorities and support cross-sector collaboration on the SDGs in the UK;
  • Development of an online platform for discussions, event information and the sharing of resources.
