The UNSSC Knowledge Centre for Sustainable Development is pleased to present the UN Country Teams (UNCT) Leadership Skills Course: Leveraging UN Country Teams for the 2030 Agenda. The course will take place from 14 to 18 May, in Bonn, Germany. There will also be a second edition from 5 to 9 November, once again in Bonn.
For the 2018 editions, the course curriculum has been revamped in direct response to the call by UN Secretary-General António Guterres to reposition the UN development system to deliver on the 2030 Agenda and to work towards 'a new generation of Country Teams that are tailored to the specific needs of each country’.
Designed for senior UN officials from UN Country Teams, this programme builds collaborative leadership capabilities, and presents concrete ways to apply these capabilities in complex, highly demanding country contexts. Participants will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and sharpen their political acumen, engage with inspirational leaders and experts, and acquire key skills to drive the transformative 2030 Agenda.
The course agenda includes an immersive professional media and communications training in the TV and radio studios of the Academy of the German foreign broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW). Participants will also experience a live case study, through an excursion to a nearby city that is dealing with a concrete sustainability challenge around open cast mining.
