The Training on Local Planning Processes and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aims to highlight how the principles of Agenda 2030 can help local and regional governments to improve their planning processes.
The workshop will be based on the Second Module for Capacity Building in Local Development Planning and the SDGs. This module is part of the SDG Localization Training Modules that are being developed and promoted through a partnership between United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-HABITAT). The modules aim to equip local and regional governments and their organizations, as well as other local actors, with a range of strategies, skills and knowledge that will support the localization of the SDGs.
Since its launch, several training workshops to raise awareness about key issues related to the localization of the SDGs have been carried out around the world. These sessions allow a theoretical and practical learning, since they have participation activities, group work, and offer a space for the exchange of ideas and experiences.
This workshop is also intended to follow up on the SDG Training Workshop that was held in Praia in October 2017. Once the training is completed, participants will be able to understand how SDG can improve local planning processes and to train other actors so that they can also apply this knowledge in their local development plans.
