The High-Level Meeting of the General Assembly on the Implementation of the New Urban Agenda will take place on the 28th of April, 2022.
Six years after the adoption of the New Urban Agenda at HABITAT III conference held in Quito (Ecuador), the President of the General Assembly is holding a one-day High-level Meeting to assess progress on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda, in collaboration with UN-Habitat.
The High-level Meeting seeks to recognise the importance of cities, and the transformative actions identified in the New Urban Agenda in ensuring a greener, more just and inclusive future in which no one and place is left behind.
A number of events are being organised as part of the roadmap towards the High-Level Meeting by the different constituents of the New Urban Agenda. On Wednesday, 27th April, UN-Habitat and its partners have prepared a series of side events and special sessions connecting the Sustainable Development Goals and the implementation of the New Urban Agenda, which are listed below. HLM Parallel Side Events and Special Sessions
Transformative Urban Finance for the SDGs (Finance for Development Conference)
Venue: Landmark Room, Millennium Hotel

This event will bring together local governments, international financing institutions and other relevant stakeholders to demonstrate various financing vehicles and results from this UNCDF/UN-Habitat fused offering, and project how such initiatives can move to scale in this Decade of Action. Cities will be invited to participate and have access to advice, resources, and technical assistance to strengthen local revenue, improve public financial management, improve creditworthiness, and access debt finance and blended capital for SDG impact projects.
High Level Panel on Accelerating the Implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the SDGs

This event aims to create a space for dialogue and exchange between local, national governments and the civil society. The focus will be how to accelerate the attainment of the SDGs and the NUA through strategic collaboration and inclusive design.
SDG Cities: Women-led businesses supporting Women-led cities

This session will bring together women business leaders, mayors, and UN principals in a dialogue on the opportunities for women leaders of businesses and cities to make a difference in accelerating the achievement of SDGs and NUA, overcome obstacles faced by women leaders, and empower the future generation of women leaders.
Inclusive Cities, Communities of Solidarity: The role of local governments to leverage human mobility

The aim of the event is to position the New Urban Agenda (NUA) principles in policy directions and programmatic initiatives at the global level to highlight its impact in the effective inclusion of refugees and migrants in cities in the long-and-medium-term, as well as to transform migration into a territorial asset in host urban areas.
Youth 2030 Cities– Localization of the SDGs and NUA

Host: Healthy Cities for Adolescents Programme-Fondation Botnar
The Youth 2030 event will be a platform for both representatives of local government and HCA youth to discuss the gathered promising practices of the youth and localization of the SDGs, and the declarations adopted by the Youth 2030 Forums.
Special event on Affordable Housing and Ending Homelessness
Venue: Conference Room 11 – United Nations Headquarters, New York

This event aims to create a global movement of national and local governments, present the latest developments on ending and preventing homelessness and ensuring access to housing for all, strengthen awareness of the centrality of housing and ending homelessness to deliver on the New Urban Agenda and the Agenda2030 and present the scope and roadmap, as well as launch the works on the SG Report on inclusive social development policies and programmes to address homelessness in the aftermath of COVID-19.
This event will be carried out in hybrid form.
