“The Second Leaders Meeting of the Local2030 Islands Network will gather Heads of Delegations from member countries to discuss pathways and opportunities for net-zero and climate resilient economic recoveries.
The event will serve as an opportunity for island-centered collaboration. The event will also announce new island members who have joined since the inaugural meeting, as well as highlight new resources that will be mobilized. Led by islands for islands, the Local2030 Islands Network was launched on September 27, 2019, at the 74th Session of the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA 74) as part of the High-Level Review of the SIDS Accelerated Modalities of Action (SAMOA) Pathway.
The Network brings together a diverse set of island nations, states/provinces, communities, and cultures from all regions of the world - islands tied together by their shared island experience, cultures, strengths, and challenges. To date, a total of 16 island economies have joined the network representing a diverse range of geographical regions and political jurisdictions, including Antigua and Barbuda, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, Curacao, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Gibraltar, Grenada, Guam, Hawaii, Ibiza, Ireland, Palau, Puerto Rico, Republic of the Marshall Islands and Trinidad and Tobago.”
